This list includes just the non-games, although we've also snuck a few borderline puzzle games in there as well. Here's a recap of the product that has been announced for the system since March. We've purposely avoided using the term "game" to describe the new DS product because most of the titles aren't actually "games." Presumably fueled by the success of Nintendo's Touch Generation lineup, along with the occasional third-party success story, the casual game market is thriving, at least in terms of announcements. This compares to three new games for the PSP, seven for the PS2, and not much for the next generation systems. This past week saw 23 new DS entries in the Famitsu DS release list.

The DS is likely to overtake the Sony system in overall sales some time this year, just three years following its 2004 release! And the DS software list is growing, often by ten new titles a week. Take all this together, and you'll see why we consider the DS to be the new PS2. DS also dominates the air waves with the most commercials, as you might have noticed in our commercial section (check back next week for a big update!). You might have also noticed the system taking up more and more space in our "Now Playing" section, where we share boxes and mini profiles for the latest game releases. Still not very encouraging for new players though. As in this picture from the giant Bic Camera in Shinjuku, the DS takes up not only the best retail space, but the most retail space overall. Interestingly, most of the worst bugs happened in the first portion of the game, so when you punched through that, it got better.

It's great to play them in English, and the translation patches aren't BAD.but they're some of the buggiest patches I've ever played. But if we're going to go into 'bad patches' then I have to mention 1 and 2. Also, I didn't realize that the translation was bad.

I'd played the Final Fantasy Legend games a bit (which is in japan, and the first iterations of the series) but I didn't care for them. EDIT: And I didn't know the Romancing Saga games had translation patchs. It's kinda like, in that it's a strategy rpg in terms of how you move the characters, but when two opposing units (which really represent teams, except for the Dragon characters who fight alone) meet up, they fight a round of traditional JRPG combat. I was going to mention Bahamut Lagoon, but I'm not a big fan of it. Edited 3rd Aug '11 8:44:44 PM by Barrylocke. SNES: Sailor Moon: Another Story DS: Also, even though is available on the GBA in both America and Europe, IMO you're doing yourself a disservice if you play that version instead of the PSX version, which has a translation patch as well (and an alternate patch on the way.one day.) Technically the SNES version is patched too.but I really prefer the PSX patch, as well as the PSX version itself. Possibly because many of the ones I would say, like and 6, are now available on in America. Note that Fire Emblem 2 also has a translation patch.įor some reason, I can't think of that many even though I play a lot of patched games. Edited 3rd Aug '11 8:41:27 PM by deuxhero. Any others? I want to avoid things that eventually did get a release (Persona 2 part 1) or (knowing Atlus), have a high chance of getting one eventually ().Fire Emblem 4, 5, 6 and 12 if it gets one that finishes, 3 if it doesn't.What else should I check out while I'm at it? Current thoughts Well, I figure I'm set on biting the bullet on emulation for games that didn't come to the US thanks to 's ass hating (The Wii 3 and ) of recently.
